Asia-Pacific Researcher (Anticipated)

Location: Arlington, VA

POSITION NOT YET FUNDED. NAVANTI IS CURRENTLY ACCEPTING RESUMES FROM CANDIDATES FOR ANTICIPATED SECURITY AND STABILIZATION WORK COVERING ASIA-PACIFIC.

Navanti has a requirement for an Asia-Pacific-focused researcher who can use their knowledge of security, government, and social issues within the region to work with our multidisciplinary team. Candidates should have knowledge and/or experience in Asia-Pacific to be able to gather and analyze data pertinent to security and political affairs. The candidate will be responsible for collecting qualitative and quantitative information from open sources, cleaning and analyzing data, and writing analytical products.

Minimum Required Qualifications:

  • Strong research skills, particularly using foreign-language media and social media sources
  • Strong writing and editing abilities
  • Familiarity with the politics, culture, and history of China, Taiwan, Mongolia, Korea, Japan, Vietnam, Burma, Thailand, The Philippines, Cambodia, and/or Laos
  • Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel and PowerPoint; experience using Power BI, PDF editor, and InDesign a plus
  • Strong understanding of conflict-affected regions/countries

Desired Qualifications:

  • Experience living in, studying, or working on topics related to the Asia-Pacific region.
  • Open-source analysis experience in a professional setting
  • GIS skills/knowledge
  • Data management and analysis

Education:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field
  • Master's Degree in regional studies or related field preferred

Language:

  • Proficiency in Chinese Mandarin/Cantonese desired
